Elizabeth M. Ignacio , MD
Board Certified in Sports Orthopedic Surgery
Dr. Ignacio specializes in treating sports injuries using minimally invasive arthroscopic procedures. The only orthopedic surgeon from Hawaii selected as an instructor for the prestigious international Masters Course in Arthroscopy, Dr. Ignacio has been given awards for her cartilage research and for excellence in teaching. She provides personal care and attention throughout a patient’s experience, both before and after surgery.
An Assistant Professor at the University of Hawaii John A. Burns School of Medicine Department of Surgery, Dr. Ignacio also serves as a Volunteer Physician for UH Football and UH Volleyball, and Orthopedic Consultant for the UH Department of Athletics. She served as President of the Hawaii Orthopedic Association and is an active board member for many nonprofit organizations.
Before moving back to Hawaii, Dr. Ignacio was on the faculty at the Southern California Center for Sports Medicine. She also has served on the medical staff for the Georgetown Hoyas, the Washington Redskins and Cal State Long Beach. She is a graduate of Iolani School.
